Andrew, where are you from? I’m Andrew, although many of my friends refer to me as Gibbo. Originally from Belfast, I relocated to Newcastle for university in 1997 and later moved to London in the 2000’s.
Describe your role in three words. Consulting, Marketing, Transacting. And if I may add another three: Leasing amazing spaces.
My role involves working collaboratively with architects and clients to ensure the design of the building is fit for purpose and aligned with current market demands. This collaborative approach simplifies the marketing and transactional phases.
An office needs...Heart. Without it, people are unlikely to return to it or spend much time in it…
We have noticed a trend among tenants towards integrating more collaborative spaces in office designs, acknowledging the significance of bringing people together post-Covid.
Favourite office space? The Brunel Building is particularly striking and forward-thinking. Battersea Power Station also stands out, primarily due to its scale and unique architecture—there are very few red-brick buildings of this scale, with four chimneys! Additionally, the surrounding area is thriving, adding to its appeal.
Best thing about your role? The variety. I spend my days in different parts of London, which is a significant advantage. Meeting new businesses and people, and exploring the most exciting commercial properties London has to offer, is incredibly rewarding.
Top tip for any company considering a move? Carefully consider how your staff will need to use the space in the future. The office landscape has changed, and adaptation is key to ensuring success.
And finally, talk us through your weekend plans? A typical weekend in the Gibson household revolves around family time and entertaining the children. Our kids go to various clubs and parties so there’s quite a bit of ferrying around and we’ll catch up with friends / hit a gig or party if we’re lucky!
