Polly Robertson
Director of Product and Marketing
What brought you to Kontor?
After my degree I knew I didn’t want to be an architect! But I’m interested in the impact an office environment has on how teams work, and I wanted to get stuck in at a smaller company. A friend put me in touch with Luke and JT and I've been here ever since.
Which piece of the puzzle do you like helping clients with most?
Giving people an idea about what’s possible in an office. It can be hard to see the wood for the trees, sometimes you need some inspiration to get the ball rolling. Over my first couple of years at Kontor I got involved in the end to end customer journey, from viewing tours to legal negotiations. That really helped.
Has anything surprised you about the industry at large?
The quality of design in some fully-managed flexible offices. You might expect the providers to cut corners when companies come and go all the time, but sometimes the spec is really high.
How would you describe the perfect office?
A place employees enjoy turning up to every day because they feel at home. Ideally with well-lit loos and lots of plants! But actually the main thing is getting to know what makes your company tick, not just how many desks you need. When I helped Tala (LED lighting) find their office, they jumped on the first space they saw. I knew it was the one for them because I’d understood them, their design ethos and how they wanted to be perceived.
Top tip for any company considering a move?
Don’t be afraid of the wild card. Having blinkers on could mean you miss out on somewhere amazing. This can usually happen when the space doesn’t look 100% on paper, but your adviser will know you well enough for you to trust them on the
So… Cornwall?
Born and bred. I love London but the pastys just aren’t the same and I’m not sure about paddle boarding on the Thames...
What our clients say

"Kontor are fabulous! I’d like to think we were easy clients – they showed us one office and we loved it! Seriously, though, I’ve dealt with a lot of property firms and Kontor really understood our brief which is why they found us a property so quickly. They got who we are as a brand and our identity. It was also nice to work with Polly who has an architectural background, so we could really bounce around ideas for the space. Kontor have such genuine enthusiasm."
